Scope and Content This distant view shows the tidal causeway leading to Castle Tioram, a massive 13c stronghold with later keep. It was first mentioned in 1372 as the seat of the Clanranalds. It was garrisoned by the government in 18c, burned down in 1715 and abandoned. It is a scheduled monument but too fragile to allow public access. To the left is Risca Island and Loch Moidart in the distance. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
