Scope and Content This distant view looking almost vertically shows the tidal causeway leading to Castle Tioram, a massive 13c stronghold with later keep. It was first mentioned in 1372 as the seat of the Clanranalds. It was garrisoned by the government in 18c, burned down in 1715 and abandoned. It is a scheduled monument but too fragile to allow public access. To the right is Risca Island. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
