Scope and Content Castle Tioram is on an island linked to the shore by a tidal causeway, at high tide in this photo. It's a massive 13c stronghold with later keep. It was first mentioned in 1372 as the seat of the Clanranalds. It was garrisoned by the government in 18c, burned down in 1715 and abandoned. It is a scheduled monument but too fragile to allow public access. Top left is Risca Island. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
