Description Near vertical aerial view of Drummondhill, Inverness, looking W.

Date 1988

Collection Papers of James Sloan Bone, landscape historian, Inverness, Highland, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 1863138

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content This view focuses on Drummond Hill though it is just one of several late C19 villas built in Inverness in this area of the town. Drummond Hill was built in c. 1890 by William Burns, an Inverness solicitor. In the 1950s it was acquired by the Northern Agricultural College and in the 1990s when regional agricultural colleges merged, it became the Scottish Agricultural College. It has now (2020) been converted into flats. Towards the bottom centre of the photo is Drummond Hill Lodge, built 1885, and to the right of Drummond Hill is Bellevue Nursing Home, which operated between 1971 and 2001. At centre right, among the trees, is Westwood, another large villa. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
