Scope and Content In the immediate foreground is the Caledonian Canal, completed in 1822 by Telford, now a popular tourist waterway. Above it , the wooded area is Tomnahurich Cemetery. A prominent feature on Tomnahurich Hill it houses extensive sculptured monuments, and was continuously expanded until 1950 when it became hemmed in by housing . It has a shelter and war memorial. Beyond just visible is the river Ness. Title and Scope & Content contributed by North of Scotland Archaeological Society (2021).
