Archive History No formal accession record has yet been identified, but cataloguing indicates prints were donated to RCAHMS by the photographer, R J W Deacon, between 1985 and c1990. The negatives were retained by the donor.

Administrative History Balsarroch House, Wigtonshire. The ruins of a late seventeenth century laird's house, presumably built by the Campbell family who possessed the lands of Balsarroch during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The property passed to the family of Ross in the early eighteenth century; the Arctic voyagers, Rear-Admiral Sir John Ross (1777-1856) and Sir James Clark Ross (1800-1862) were descendants of the Rosses of Balsarroch.
