Scope and Content Temporary camp at Kair House, Aberdeenshire This Roman temporary camp is at Kair House in Aberdeenshire. It is on the summit of a hill overlooking the left bank of the Bervie Water, by Fordoun. Sections of the rampart can still be seen, as a low bank, on the ground. This is an aerial view of the site showing the camp. One corner and parts of two sides can be seen as cropmarks in the centre of the image. On plan, the camp is a rough parallelogram and gates have been identified in the NNE and SSW sides. The location of this camp was discovered in 1945. It may be the northern-most in a series of camps associated with the Severan campaigns. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
