Scope and Content A collection of photographic copies of drawings in the Cassillis Estate Office, including designs for cottages and estate buildings, 1879-1907. NMRS Inventory 93.

Archive History The collection was copied by RCAHMS in 1975 as a Survey of a Private Collection, courtesy of the Cassillis Estate. Previously catalogued as Collection 262/283

System of Arrangement The photographic copies are arranged by Estate Office Drawer number.

Administrative History The title of Earl of Cassillis was created in 1509 for the 3rd Lord Kennedy: in 1831 the 12th Earl was created Marquess of Ailsa. The estates of the family lay mainly in Ayrshire, their principal seats being at the castles of Cassillis and Culzean.
