Scope and Content Crossapol House and burial ground, Coll, Argyll and Bute Crossapol House is located on Crossapol Bay on the south coast of Coll. The chapel site and burial-ground lies about 45m south-east of the house. The foundations of a chapel were observed in 1773 and were still visible in the mid-19th century but these are now lost. The burial-ground remained in use into the 20th century and the enclosure wall is modern. The chapel site and burial ground can be seen at the very edge of the sandy beach (foreground). Above is Crossapol House, behind which are the remains of a farmstead. The grassy sand dunes to the right form part of the dune complex that separates Crossapol and Feall Bays. It has been suggested that the church of the medieval parish of Coll stood at Crossapol, but it is more probable that it was situated at Killunaig in north Coll and that this site was occupied by a dependent chapel.
