Scope and Content Aerial view of St Duthus Chapel, Chapel Road, Tain, Highland Tain, a medieval place of pilgrimage, became a royal burgh by 1567. It expanded from the late 18th century onwards during which time the layout of its streets was rationalised. St Duthus Chapel is said to be the same chapel as the one dedicated to St Duthac that drew pilgrims to Tain until it was burnt in 1427. Its rounded arches suggest that it dates from the 13th-century.
