Scope and Content Aerial view of Conagearaidh, Canna, Highland This oblique aerial view is of part of the north-west coast of Canna. These stone structures are built below the cliffs, close to the shore, and are thought to be a burial-ground and the remains of a farm steading. Canna has been occupied since 4,000-2,500 BC, and traces of many different periods of settlement still exist today. Many of the structures are of unknown date and use. Canna is one of the most westerly of the Small Isles and is situated to the north-west of Rhum. The island is low-lying and is a mixture of fertile ground, bog and moorland. In 1981 Canna was gifted to The National Trust for Scotland by Dr J L Campbell. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
