Scope and Content 71 High Street, Earlsferry, Fife Earlsferry was the terminal for ferries across the Forth - mainly to North Berwick and Dirleton - during the Middle Ages. Accepted as a royal burgh in 1541, it was in decline by the 18th century, but revived as a seaside resort in the late 19th century. Number 71 High Street was built in the early 19th century. The decorative skewputs -where the gable meets the wall head - were renewed in 1867. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
