Administrative History Born in 1916, Sophie Mary Trafford married Charles Antony Lyell, 2nd Baron in 1938 becoming Baroness Lyell and taking residence at Kinnordy House, near Kirriemuir. Charles Lyell, a captain in the 1st Battalion Scotts Guards, died in WWII aged 29. Lady Lyell lived at Kinnordy House as a widow for the rest of her life with her son, Lord Lyell, until her death in 2012.
