Scope and Content This 35-page report is of an archaeological desk-based survey and a walkover survey for a development site for a wind turbine and access track, also underground cables and temporary ancilllary works,on land adjacent to Ore Farm, Orkney, commisioned by Scotrenewables (Wind Power) Ltd on behalf of the Highlands and Islands Community Energy Company (HICEC), and carried out by ORCA. The development at Ore Farm would have direct physical impact upon two main sites, an area of spoil to the north of the WWII military complex, and a 19th century drain cutting an earlier, possibly prehistoric, dyke. There is also an unlisted Bronze Age barrow, excavated in 1873, but not otherwise recorded. Avoidance strategy and watching briefs were advised In the immediate area of the development. The visual impact was considered on many sites, within 2km, 2-5 km, 5-15km, and 15-30km of the development. This impact was considerable, and consultation with the Regional Archaeologist and Historic Scotland was essential.
