Scope and Content These photographs were taken during the operational history of Historic Scotland and its predecessors. These organisations include the Ancient Monuments division of the Ministry of Works and the Scottish Development Department. The content of this collection relates to guardianship and non-guardianship properties managed by Historic Scotland. This includes photographs of properties, collections, conservation, exhibitions, and other functions of Historic Scotland at its properties. This collection was transferred to the John Sinclair House archive from its prior location in the Longmore House offices during the establishment of Historic Environment Scotland. Elements of this collection were digitised as part of the 2018-2021 Digital Projects. During digitisation item level digital images were appraised according to duplication, digitisation errors, and poor quality. The collection has been arranged according to the Historic Scotland Photographic Library (Ancient Monuments Division). This arrangement is reflected in the envelope codes, preserved in the 'External Reference' field for batch and item level records.
