Scope and Content A brown cloth-covered hardbacked book (266 x 210 mm) with tan leather spine and corners, titled in gold on the front Register Book. The end papers are green, combed, and the 52 pages (some loose) are lined and columned as a register. They are, however, used for photographs; these are mainly of ships and engineering but include items of architectural interest in Invergordon and Alness. Two dates appear, 1917 & 1919. The identity of the photographer is unknown. Photograph captions: Page 1 - “Baden” torpedo tube 24" appx: side loading arrangement. - “Baden” hole in ship’s hull for torpedo tube. Page 2 - “Baden” rear door port torpedo tube. - “Baden” port tube rear and cover and door removed. Air barrels and plunges instead of springs. Page 3 - “Baden” starboard tube. Taken inside the timber-built church is a photograph of a war memorial in memory of the officers and men of HMS Shark, who died fighting for their country at the Battle of Jutland, May 31, 1918, named as Commander Loftus William Jones, Lt. Ernest Tudor Donnell, Acting Sub.Lt. Patrick Hugo Gerald Irving Vance, Midshipman Thomas Smith RNR, Surgeon Probationer Robert Walker RNVR, Gunner William Thomas Gale, and Artificer Engineer Allan James Hurst. Below the memorial is a plaque reading "On 7 March 1917 His Majesty the King was pleased to confer the posthumous decoration of Victoria Cross on Commdr. Loftus Jones, RN, for his conspicuous gallantry on the above mentioned occasion.
