Scope and Content This shows a pedimented date panel which remains exposed between the ground and first floors between the western two bays of 124-126 Canongate, Edinburgh. This four-storeyed, four-bayed house dates from 1685 but was restored in the 1970 when the red harling was put on the building. The wide spacing of the windows is quite unusual, but these are traditional timber-framed, multi-paned sash and case, apart from the ground floor, which have been recessed within the frames. There are small square window openings in the short return on the west elevation. The property was converted to offices and flats during the restoration in the late 20th century.
