Description Long wooden timber (DP96/010), probably a counter-timber from the external transom structure. Though much abraded, traces of carved decoration can be seen towards the right-hand end, while six joint-faces are spaced regularly from one end to the other. A sliver of surviving timber from a jointed partner can be seen third from left. The lion-headed bracket (DPline097) might well have been part of this array. Scale 50 centimetres. (Colin Martin)
