Description Frames R7 to R10 at the point where they joined the keel. The 1-foot scale lies on the top surface of the keel. The frame ends were secured by a clamping timber (removed here) which locked them in place. This unconventional technique (normally the frames would have run continually across the keel) may have been occasioned by a major re-build in 1678, when the keel and many of the lower timbers were replaced.
