Scope and Content Settlement at Barnhill, Dumfries and Galloway Some 400m west of Barnhill House lies the cropmark of a circular enclosure, first recorded by aerial photography in 1945. The circular enclosure lies within a 2m broad ditch, which has two breaks on its east side (upper right). The larger of the two is probably an entrance. Although no buildings are visible in the interior, the enclosure is probably the remains of an Iron Age settlement. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
