Scope and Content St Blane's Church, monastery, well, and enclosure, Kingarth, Argyll and Bute St Blane's is the site of an Early Christian foundation which may have been linked to a larger organisation. The church, dating to the late 12th century, is dedicated to St Blane, a 6th-century missionary. There are few remains of the Early Christian monastery, but several early crosses have been found. There is also a well and part of an enclosure wall. The church has its nave and chancel, the arch of which is decorated in a Romanesque style. To the right is a stone-built circular foundation, known as The Cauldron. Its use is unknown. There are other remains to the north and south of the church which are possibly monastic cells.
