Scope and Content This 24-page report presents the results of trial excavations and topographical survey undertaken in June and July 2001 by CFA Archaeology Ltd on behalf of Entec UK Ltd, archaeology consultants for Scottish Coal. EDM survey was required to produce an accurate 1:2500 scale map of the area, on this map are indicated a mineral railway, turf dykes, various mining and quarry scoops, turf enclosures, a kiln, and a possible late Mesolithic/early Neolithic site (site 66). 14 sites were excavated. According to the report two sites (66 and 69) merit further work. Appendix 5 details the project design.
