Scope and Content This photograph shows the winch-house for the cable railway and carriage, or bogey. The bogey was originally a simple flat platform with two ends and no sides, completely open to the elements. It was attached to a steel cable in the winch-house to lower and pull it back and forth up and down the hill. It was built higher at the N end so as to be level when going down the hill. There are 647 steps built into the hillside beside the track, which lead from top to bottom. Information from Norma MacLeod, SRP Storr Lochs, May 2011.
