C14 Radiocarbon Dating - Sample - SUERC-10838
SUERC-10838
Sample CH06#28 Context 465 Floor 465 in House 401 (the fifth floor in the middle roundhouse). Deposit of laminated black and orange lenses of peat ash forming a floor layer above fill layer 663 and sealed by fill layers 512 and 463. Site Phase 13. The carbonised barley grain is most likely to have been deposited as the result of activities within the house in which material became charred from contact with the hearth fire. Very little time is likely to have elapsed between the seed's charring and its incorporation into the archaeological context of the floor deposit.
