Sample CH06#64 Context 931 Midden layer 931 in Area C (the midden and double roundhouse northwest of the main excavation). Deposit of shells and brown sand forming a midden layer near the top of the upper midden sequence. It lies on top of midden layer 923 and is sealed by midden layer 922. Site Phase 12. The foetal sheep scapula is most likely to have been deposited as the result of butchery activities elsewhere on the settlement. From there it was presumably tipped into this midden. Very little time is likely to have elapsed between the sheep's death and its incorporation into the archaeological context of the midden.
