Sample CH06#25 Context 595 Floor 595 in House 401 (the fourth floor in the middle roundhouse). Deposit of laminated black and orange lenses of peat ash forming a floor layer above fill layer 659 and sealed by fill layer 663. Site Phase 12. The dog metatarsal is likely to have been deposited into this layer as it formed. Very little time is likely to have elapsed between the death of the dog and the incorporation of its disarticulated partial skeleton into the archaeological context of the deposit.
