Sample CH06#45 Context 474 Fill layer 474 in forecourt of House 1370 (northern roundhouse). Deposit of brown sand forming a deep fill layer above fill layer 571 and sealed by fill layers 473 and 1591. Layer 474 is dated by OSL to 440-120 BC whilst 470 (three layers above) is OSL dated to 630-290 BC. Site Phase 12. The articulated sheep phalanges are likely to have been deposited into this layer as it formed. Very little time is likely to have elapsed between the death of the sheep and the incorporation of its articulating toes into the archaeological context of the deposit.
