Sample CH06# 05 Context 2793 Cremation pyre deposit in forecourt of House 1370 (northern roundhouse). This latest pyre deposit consisted of a thin spread, 1.4 m x 1 m across, of burnt bone, peat ash, soot and charcoal. It lay above an earlier cremation spread (3334) and was covered by fill layers 2746 and 3356. Site Phase 8. The disarticulated human bones are likely to have been left after the bodies' cremation on this pyre. Very little time is likely to have elapsed between burning and incorporation of the cremated bone into the archaeological context of the deposit since the bones were left within the pyre residues.
