New Abbey Parish Church [NAT]

OS (GIS) MasterMap, July 2009.

Prior to 1731, New Abbey parish church was situated upon the S side of the cloisted garth of Sweetheart Abbey. In that year, a new church was built abutting against the S wall of the nave as shown on plan. This second church was removed in 1877 when the existing parish church was built (at NX 9651 6596) and the S wall of the nave of the Abbey church repaired. The fragmentary window now built into the E wall of the chapter house was formerly in the E wall of the church removed in 1877, as were fragments of the isolated arch now standing in the cloister garth.

RCAHMS 1914, visited 1911.
