Archaeology Notes

NX15NE 11 1860 5873

Situated on the E side of the road leading from Glenluce to Old Luce, some 80m NE of Glenluce Abbey (NX15NE 7). Conway states that pipe tiles, leading its water to the Abbey, were found about 1832 when the road was being made.

A natural spring, still flowing, halfway-covered by a small, dry-stone, domed vault. Still known locally as St Katherine's Well.

Surveyed at 1:2500.

Visited by OS, March 1968.
