Archaeology Notes

NT82SW 151 from 8175 2278 to 8176 2261

A small area of cross-contour rig, measuring 150m from NW to SE by up to 150m, covers the gentle SSE-facing slopes on the N of the Atton Burn at the foot of Percy Law. A sinuous field-bank separates the E and S edge of the rig from the modern track and the Atton Burn. On the N, the rig overlies the south-easternmost rigs of the cultivation (NT82SW 150) covering the SW flank of Percy Law. A track skirts the extreme NW corner of the cultivation. The rigs measure between 3.5m and 5m in width between furrows up to 0.5m in width and 0.2m in depth.
