This is an undressed pillar of stone, standing 4' 2" above ground and measuring 10 1/2" square at base, set in a field. The ONB notes that the Maltese cross which had been engraved on it, was effaced. This is one of the stones marking the area of the sanctuary associated with Torphichen Preceptory.

RCAHMS 1929, visited 1926; Name Book 1856

This stone has been moved some 30m E of its original position, and is now lying on the ground by the side of a fence, at NS 9563 7078. Mr W Crook (North Couston) stated that it had been moved before 1945 when he took over the farm. As the stone is apparently broken, he has dug for the remaining stump, but has been unsuccessful. It is a slender rectangular block, as described, but no inscriptions are visible.
