This intermediate station on the Edinburgh-Glasgow 'direct' (main) line of the former North British Rly was opened (as Bo'ness Junction Station) by the Edinburgh and Glasgow Rly on 21 February 1842. It was renamed Manuel Station in January 1866, and subsequently became Manuel High Level Station. The station closed to regular passenger traffic on 6 March 1967; the line remains in regular use.
