NO21NW 84 c. 206 181

A gold aureus of AD 139, found in topsoil near the Roman vexillation fortress (NO21NW 24.00), is held in Dundee Art Galleries and Museum under accession number DMAG: 1990-210.

NO 206 181. Two Roman silver denarii were found in a field to the N of Carpow legionary fortress (NO21NW 24.00):

(i) Vespasian, RIC 42, 72-3AD.

(ii) Julia Domna (fragment), RIC 572, 196-211AD.

Returned to finder.

The gold aureus found to the N of the fortress is in Dundee Museum (DMAG: 1990-210). The present whereabouts of the two silver denarii that were also found in a field to the N of the fort but which were returned to the finder, are not known.
