Glencoe Visitor Centre, Gaia Architects, 2002 for the National Trust for Scotland Award winning eco-complex constructed of untreated native timbers and other toxin-free materials, and using recycled water and benign energy systems. Raised on stilts over gently sloping wooded ground broken by natural watercourses, the building,s various parts are linked by slatted walkways, with minimal intrusion on the site. The elevations are broken up to suggest the grouping of a clachan, mixing slated, timber planked and corrugated iron roofs with whitewashed or weatherboarded walls.
