Archaeology Notes

ND34NW 36.02 centred 3250 4534

The site of a military camp is situated in an area of semi-rough ground on the W side of the road, to the S of Tannach radar station. The camp was probably built to accommodate WAAF personnel who were posted to Tannach radar station.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), November 2000.

Little survives of this accommodation camp for personnel working the Radar stations at Tannach and Ulbster. The camp is visible on a RAF vertical air photopgraph (106G/Scot/UK74, 3321, flown 9 May 1946) as an L-shped group of group of huts on the N and W side of an area of semi-rough ground.

Visited by RCAHMS (DE, SW), August 2000.
