Location formerly entered as HY 4485 1151.

(Kirkwall: location cited as HY 448 115). At end of main pier: 1880-5. Squat tapering cast-iron column rising from square base. Pentagonal lantern on platform supported at corners by corbels in form of seamen's heads. Faces of lantern have circular central lights with three triangular panes above and below. Until c. 1980, lantern surmounted by tall lattice pyramid with flagstaff, Superstructure replaced by modern electric light approached by upper fixed ladder with protective hoops. Light moved to end of N breakwater c. 1990, and restored to original form.
