Field Visit (9 September 2014)
This air shaft, which has been capped, is situated in an arable field 290m NNW of Vantage. The concrete cap, which is set below ground level, is masked below a 6m diameter spread of rubble, but an inspection hatch is visible. The shaft is not depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Fife 1854, Sheet 39), though others in the series to the N are. It is, however, shown on the 2nd edition of the map (Fife 1896, Sheet XXXIX.SE).
