World War One Audit of Surviving Remains (29 October 2013)

The drill hall in Well Wynd is marked on the 4th epoch map (surveyed 1932) but not on the 2nd and 3rd epoch maps. Osborne (2006) notes that in 1914 it was the drill station for "A" Squadron, Lothian & Border Horse, and base for "B" Company, 8th battalion, the Royal Scots.

The hall appears to have been demolished and the house probably converted or entirely rebuilt on the existing footprint.

Information from HS/RCAHMS World War One Audit Project (GJB) 29 October 2013.
