Archaeology Notes

ND39NE 17 centred 3830 9565

Two small concrete platforms and two short trenches are visible on oblique aerial photographs taken in 1997 (RCAHMSAP 1997) situated on the S of Roan Head. The remains are almost certainly constructed in connection with 20th century defences.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), May 2002

The small concrete structures are part of the minefield control system operating in Scapa Flow. One platform has three concrete blocks, the other, a single larger concrete block.

Visited by RCAHMS (GS), August 1997

Activities
