Crannog (possible), Boghall: In Beith parish is Loch Bran or Brand, which is now generally called "Boghall Loch" from being partly on lands of that name. It is only a short distance N of Hill of Beith, and S of what is now Grangehill. Piles or stakes of oak or elm have been discovered either on or around the margin of the lake at various times, though sometimes regarding as having been used in fishing the loch, these may have been the vestiges of a crannog. (This loch does not appear on either the present or 1st edition OS maps, Love's description would locate it to approximately NS 356 543).

The shrunken limits of the former Boghall Loch are still definable as a low, marsh and reed covered area (less than 2 ha in extent) centred at NS 358 543. No significant features were noted, and enquiry at nearby Boghall farm and Hill of Beith proved negative. RAF APs (F44.58/3544: 0008-9, flown 1960) show nothing of interest.
