Scope and Content Denny Iron Works, Glasgow Road, Denny, Falkirk This shows the interior of the pattern-making shop, probably part of the original 1870 works. On the table in the foreground is a pattern for a turbine rotor, and to the right are table and band saws. Along either side of the shop are benches for hand-work. This firm was primarily a maker of agricultural machinery, especially ploughs and Cambridge rollers, and also made iron and steel castings as engineering components, for, among others, J & T Boyd, textile machinery makers, Glasgow. The iron founding industry was a speciality of the south-east corner of Stirlingshire, with the towns of Larbert, Denny, Falkirk and Bonnybridge all having several firms engaged in this business. The Denny Iron Works was founded in 1870, and belonged to Cruikshank & Co Ltd. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
