Scope and Content Bishop Mills, No 206 Old Dumbarton Road, Glasgow These mills were founded in medieval times, and rebuilt in the mid-19th century for William Wilson, miller and grain merchant. They were latterly used for making oatmeal and animal provender, rather than flour. This shows the mills from the south-east. The mid-19th-century mill is on the right. Note the fire walls extending above the roof-line. There is a lorry loading provender under the awning. This complex was still in use in 1967, but closed in the 1970s. All the buildings except the mill block were then demolished, and that lay derelict for several years before being converted into flats. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
