Scope and Content Polmaise Colliery, Fallin, Stirlingshire Polmaise was the last colliery to work in the Stirlingshire coalfield. This view shows th colliery from the entrance. The two shafts are marked by the steel-framed headgear seen above the single storey office and workshop range. Polmaise was kept open, despite its small scale as it produced coking coal, used in the two integrated Scottish Steelworks, Clydebridge and Ravenscraig. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
