Scope and Content 1900 view of Brahan Castle, Highland Brahan Castle was built in 1611 for Colin, 1st Earl of Seaforth. It was modernised and extended some time before 1837 and remained occupied until the 1950s. It was demolished in 1965. This is how the castle looked in 1900. The main entrance (left and facing) is through the 19th century extension. The military features of the now-demolished earlier block (rear right) were lost during the early-19th-century modernisation. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
