Scope and Content Standing stone known as Ardle's Grave, Perth and Kinross Ardle's Grave, or the Giant's Grave as it is known locally, comprises a pair of stones set at either end of a low mound now within the garden of the lodge at Dirnanean. The stone, which stands at the north-west end of the mound, measures about 1.7m in height. The date and purpose of the stone are unknown. Local legend claims this stone marks the grave of a Prince Ardle who led the Picts against Danish invaders at the Battle of Enochdhu. Pursuing the routed Danes, he was separated from his bodyguards. Seeing Ardle alone, the Danes turned and slew him. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
