Scope and Content Fort at Doune, Perth and Kinross The Roman fort at Doune is situated on Castle Hill, overlooking a crossing point on the River Teith. It was first discovered by aerial photography in 1983. The fort is only visible as a cropmark in aerial views such as this one. A section of the triple defensive ditches can be seen to the right of the modern buildings. The fort is probably Flavian in date, and appears to have had only one period of occupation.
