Scope and Content Reconstruction of Aberdeen Tolbooth (around 1751), City of Aberdeen Aberdeen Tolbooth was built in the 17th century and modified during the next three centuries along with the surrounding buildings. Only the tower or 'wardhouse' survives from the original building. This is how the tolbooth would have looked after the town house was substantially altered. First, in 1730-1, the timber lean-to was replaced with a stone extension. Then, in 1750, Patrick Barron added a third storey and made the front uniform. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
