Scope and Content Plans of tower of Aberdeen Tolbooth, City of Aberdeen Aberdeen Tolbooth was built in the 17th century and modified during the next three centuries along with the surrounding buildings. Only the tower or 'wardhouse' survives from the original building. Watson, the original contractor, reduced his fee because a planned fifth floor of the tower or 'wardhouse' was never built. The original entrance was on the first-floor east wall. It moved to the south wall in 1760 and then to the ground floor in 1820. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
