Scope and Content Cell with prison bed inside tower of Aberdeen Tolbooth, City of Aberdeen Aberdeen Tolbooth was built in the 17th century and modified during the next three centuries along with the surrounding buildings. Only the tower or 'wardhouse' survives from the original building. An original prison bed survives in the south cell on the third floor of the tower or 'wardhouse'. Like the other cell fittings, it probably dates from before 1831 because in that year a new prison-block was added behind the court-house. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
